Gig Memory Test

pedr0's picture

50 artists you have seen live (or less if you haven't been to many)that you can list in 5 minutes. I found it harder than I thought but I have seen a few people so many times that I Haven't seen that many. Festivals don't count unless you went to see one act. What's interesting (to me at least) is the order you remember them in.

What you forget

Braincells unexpectedly not dead seem to register...

Blondie (the Whistle Test one in Glasgow: looks good now, but dreary at the time).

Style Council (dull dull, dull...though apparently miles better than Chris de Burgh at the same venue the night before, according to the bouncers, livened as it was only by the sight of 3,000 lasses with red dresses on.)

Writing it all down it strikes me I have not been to hear enough horrible noise.

0
Doods | 30 July 2010 - 10:36pm

Much trickier than I thought.

Fantastic Gig

Tiny venue (Charlotte in Leicester)
Six members tried and failed to fit on the stage, so Ebbot The Giant got the audience to sit down and proceeded to stroll around us.
Behind The Music had just come out. They were on fire. Should have been bigger.

0
fedoraboy | 30 July 2010 - 11:39pm

They're still on fire...

saw 'em last week!

Retro Man | 31 July 2010 - 12:12am

30 Seconds to Mars, You Me At Six. Cobra Starship?

You have a teenage daughter and I claim my ten pounds...

0
GunsOfBrixton | 31 July 2010 - 11:36am

Where do I send the cheque?

Luckily these bands are very good. They are in the list because they are among the most recent and 5 minutes goes very quickly. McFly made it on but no one will admit to liking them now, and even I was not desperate enough to put S Club 7 on.

0
alankngal | 4 August 2010 - 2:09pm

No cheating

I don't think I've been to 50 gigs, but here goes....in 5 minutes -

Boston
Lindisfarne
BB King
Steve Earle
Lucinda Williams
Randy Newman
Ray Lamontagne
Steve Forbert
Emmylou Harris
Billy Bragg
Lyle Lovett
John Hiatt
Slaid Cleaves
Mary Gauthier
Fred Eaglesmith
Amy Rigby
Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart
Guy Clark
Amy Allison
Proclaimers
The Blues Band
Tam White
Rod Picott

That took me 5 minutes. I have seen most of them several times so I probably have been to about 50 gigs in total.
