Getting Ready For Chritmas Day!
Posted by daff on 11 November 2011 - 9:19pm.
It used to be that round about now the Geatest Hits or Best of Albums came out but this year it seems to be different. What we have now are the 'repackaged with bonus tracks' albums. I bet everyone who bought the original albums earlier in the year must be really pleased!
So far I have seen repackaged albums by Hugh Laurie, Cara Emerald, Maroon 5, Jessie J and Ed Sheeran!
Stop it record companies! Its not big and its not clever!

Repackaged in what?
A wheely-bin? Sounds fair enough with that list
Silent Night
Sorry - just to clarify - I wasn't commenting on the um, er, 'artists' involved in this. I wouldn't knowEd Sheeran if I heard him - I merely looked at Amozon's chart! On that point I can now add Nicole Shenegan or whatever she is called to the list.
A Fry in the ointment
Having said that I do have the Hugh Laurie album (not the re-packaged one) and think in a John Mayall/Van Morrison/Cyril Davis sort of way think it is perfectly okay.
Reissue, repackage
extra track, a tacky badge and an ad for a large department store.
Chritmas Day...
Are we talking Yuletide in Jamaica?
Instead of turkey they have...
... beer can!!
At least in the download age...
... it's relatively easy to pick up any additional tracks that take your fancy, without having to buy the whole package all over again. Most of the time, anyway.
This has nothing to do with repackaging...
...or Christmas -
I watched a Tiny Desk Concert from NPR featuring Steve Earle recently(he forgot the lyrics to the first song...twice!!...hehe, stupid old git!)...anyway, back to the point....he said(something like)"I've got a new CD out. It's called 'I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive'. That's the name of a Hank Williams song...but that song's not on the record...unless you buy it from iTunes and get it as a bonus...or it's on the LP version. We used to make records for girls....now we make them for nerds!".
