Easy
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. I'd also love to see the Black Crowes again before they shut up shop.
Concur .
Tom Petty
When did he last play the UK ?
Tell you what
The "Damn the torpedoes" Classic Albums DVD is excellent and cheapo on Amazon.
Agreed....Petty and Crowes
Thats the two I was going to pick. Petty in particular. One of the last acts left I really want to see live. Hopefully next year.
Petty, yes and...
... Mellencamp. You've done it before too. You know the way.
Shelby Lynne
I've just got her latest CD Tears, Lies and Alibis.
I was going to see her about 10 years ago, when she was touring to promote the I Am Shelby Lynne album. However for some reason the gig was cancelled and as far as I know she's never been back In the years between she's produced a lot of fine music.
Robert Earl Keen - fabulous Texan singer who in all the years I've been aware of him has never toured over here.
Chris Knight. He's toured here once, four or five years ago. I think it's time for another tour.
Heres My Starters For Ten ...
Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
Bob Seger
Huey Lewis And The News
Van Halen
Sammy Hagar
Garth Brooks
John Fogerty
Trisha Yearwood
Dixie Chicks
AC/DC
Trisha Yearwood!
Hail fellow! I adore Trisha. I've seen her twice over here. Second time supported by Kim Richey. Fantastic.
Trisha
We caught the tour with Kim Richey (admittedly we went because Kim was the support) but Trisha was excellent. She did have an annoying tendency to do do a "Richard Nixon" point in the middle of songs ie
Nixon always used to point at no-one in particular with a cheesy grin when out before a crowd. Trisha seemed to do the same.
Tom Petty says there WILL be European dates next year.
:)
Which will...
... most likely cover the UK via a single night in London.
Just a guess.
I've said it before
but I found Petty at the Empire very disappointing last time around. American cool had transformed into American smug. I'd love to see Mellencamp though.
Matthew Sweet.
He's supposed to be a bit phobic about flying. Which would mean it makes sense to do a proper tour and make the flight worthwhile. Other members of The Masive have already taunted me with tales of Sweet gigs of yore. Especially the one with Velvet Crush in support.
Now if he came over with the divine Ms Hoffs and a few other Bangles, plus a few Velvet Crushers, and Pete Droge and Shaun Mullins to make up numbers, we could make a fine night of it somewhere.
well for what it's worth...
the said divine Ms Hoffs and the Bangles are toddling in this general direction in the near future, according to website.
Sadly no mention of Matthew Sweet. I really like those two albums he did with Susannah H.
Either way, This is as good an excuse as any...
Sorry. I am old.
Pat Benatar. She normally only tours the USA in summer to drag her kids along during the school hols. Der - they must be old enough to risk British weather and fish & chips by now Pat/Neil.
Trans Siberian Orchestra. Bring your bloody Christmas tours to the UK in summer. I don't mind.
Pat Boone. Perform your In A Metal Mood album in it's entirety, preferably in Manchester at a Massive mingle. Mate.
Spare a thought for us
Who are on the other side of the pond....
There's a list of people I'd love to see, but I suspect I'll need to come back to the UK to see them.
I'll start with Drever McCusker and Woomble.
Elvis Perkins
in Dearland
David
Bowie
To turn this around...
I don't want The Dead to come back to the UK.
Seeing them at Wembley Arena or the O2 just wouldn't be the same as the Oakland Coliseum or the Shoreline Amphitheater on a warm California night with a burrito from the car park bazaar and 30,000 Deadheads for company.
Sonic Youth
Nothing remotely resembling a UK tour since the early 90s. One of the very few bands on my 'haven't seen yet but would like to' list.
Shelby Lynne
2 years ago I went to SXSW and was fortunate enough to see Shelby Lynne play in Waterloo Records in Austin. She played about 5 songs from her Just a little lovin set and it was spellbinding. She is extremely self effacing but has a voice that just melts your heart. I cannot believe she isn't a household name over here but i think that says more about us than it does about her.
Artists I would love to see over here include Bright Eyes, Alejandro Escovedo, Dave Alvin,The Felice Brothers and Ryan Adams. I know Ryan Adams has toured here many times but I have always missed his shows and he is one artist I would love to see.
That's two of us
So just to try and show the rest of the Massive the sort of thing they could be enjoying, here's Shelby
Todd Rundgren
'nuff said
James Taylor
or Steely Dan
that's about it.
