George Lamb does it again
Posted by Paul Chandler on 3 October 2008 - 6:07pm.
George Lamb interviews Ray Davies. After Ray leaves the interview early by saying the line is bad Lamb then slags him off after they work out that Davies was just saying that to get out of Lambs inane questions.
I guess no-one told Davies that Lamb is a well known cretin.

Isn't George where he is today
only because his dad was once in Kate O'Mara's 'Triangle'? Frankly, it shows.
George Lamb
is a triangle
"His dad was in Kate o'Maras triangle"
People would pay good money for that.
Interesting snippet, wasn't/isn't the violinist in Tindersticks her son?
Graeme Garden's son...
...is the keyboard player in Scissor Sisters.
My word, his interview technique...
is something to behold, isn't it?
What horrible...
... people! That was distinctly unpleasant.
Thank God I've never heard him/them before.
It's been a year....
..since this plank began wrecking my working day with his foul, mindless, insulting, vapid, arrogant, braying (I could go on) nonsense.
A year in which the response, from both listeners and the press, has been overwhelmingly negative.
A year of brush-off responses from the BBC's management.
A year of watching 6music dump its own remit 7am -7pm and abandon almost all pretence of being an intelligent, music-based alternative to the mainstream and commercial stations, during daylight hours.
A WHOLE YEAR! Dammit.
Anyone angered by the Ray Davies interview should write to the BBC and let them know they're not happy with this mess.

There is a significant segment of the population that cares about music, and wants to be suprised, informed and stimulated by what they hear on the radio. We're not being served by the BBC, despite them taking lots of extra licence fee money to supposedly provide it via 6music. Instead they're ripping us off with the same old lazy formulaic crap. They're laughing at us. Get angry about it.
I've mailed them
I feel slightly better about it. I'll post my reply.
Thanks for the link
I've lodged my complaint.
What are these people thinking of when they do these things?
OK, you want to speak on the telephone to Ray Davies, one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived, and writer of some of the finest lyrics ever penned. Do you:
(a) Show him some bloody respect and not treat him like a total imbecile
or
(b) Get him to play whacky, zany radio 'games' and then get the hump when he figures he's got better things to be doing than talking to some berk masturbating into his microphone in a radio studio
George Lamb, you sir are a cretin. An oaf. A dullard. A clothes horse. A wanker.
George
I've met him a few times.
Off air = lovely, friendly guy.
On air = tosser.
OK...
so he's a cretin, oaf and wanker on air.
Tom Jones is on next week.
I hope he twats Lamb
Jesus
In the photo in the YouTube video of the guys holding up Scrabble tiles calling George a wanker, the one on the end looks like Chris Evans.
It's come to something when Evans is able to call you a wanker.
Was Les Ros one of the others, per chance?
A great comedy moment in there
Tosser DJ - "Spell the word - Manoeuvre"
Ray - "er, F-U-C..."
Well done Ray Davies!
He could equally have said...
U-R-A-C...
...and don't forget to sign the petition!

It's getting worrying that I am now seeing things and thinking that they would go well on the Word Blog...
At the risk of stating the obvious ...
This is appalling, but surely someone who has been in "the biz" as long as Ray Davies should have done a bit of research in advance before agreeing to go on the show. All he needed to do was to Google the words 'George', 'Lamb' and 'idiot'.
However, both this and the Les Ross interview still rank some way behind Lauren Laverne's piece with David Simon on The Culture Show, as worst interview of the year.
