Gary Clarke - Back In Gainful Employment
Posted by Stephen Cadman on 17 March 2008 - 10:09pm.
I remember reading a post recently about Gary Clark from the late great Danny Wilson playing in a wedding band. A little sad for such a brilliant talent I thought. Well it seems that Gary has found gainful employment and success in the U.S. working with American singer Ferras [apparently pronounced Fer -AHSS!]. His single 'Hollywood's Not America' was the highest charting single on the Hot AC chart since John Mayer! Hopefully the wolf will be kept from the door as they say !

Wasn't it Kit, not Gary?
I thought it was Kit Clark, not Gary Clark who was spotted in the wedding band... Gary Clark has been fairly busy since DW split. As well as his solo career he had a US-based band called "Transister", a Garbage-type project with a female singer, and I spotted him on the songwriting credits for the last Natalie Imbruglia album too... there's tons more on his Myspace page, which I'm just about to investigate myself.
Thanks for the tip!

excellent songwriter
There are songs on a couple of Natalie's albums that are among Gary's finest work. Check out 'Hurricane' or 'Do you love?' if you get the chance.
And let's not forget his other post-Danny Wilson band - King L. Their one and only (sadly under-rated) album 'Great day for Gravity' has got some excellent songs on it, including one (I think) that was covered by kd lang.
i know gary
He definitely doesn't play in a wedding band. He's now working as part of the Matrix production team and lives in LA. Definitely check out his myspace (and keep checking back if God's Favourite Angel isn't one of the featured songs); also have a look at Alison Clark's page:

That was a project with Boo Hewerdine's songs and Neill MacColl playing. Pity it never really got off the ground, but it's there for everyone thanks to the wonders of myspace.
