GarageBand for Iphone app £2.99 just released

Martin Simmonds's picture

This looks to be worth a punt. I have made good use of the mac version in the past, so a portable one could get me into all sorts of mischief at forthcoming gigs.

Any takers?

Getting good reviews

500 meg file though, so don't forget to be on wifi when you download!

Its good fun

I’ve never used the Mac version, so I can’t offer any comparison.

The choice of instruments is a bit limited, but those included are good. You can plug your guitar into the headphone socket, and also sample from pretty much any source.

Maybe Apple will update or sell add-on packs in the future, but for £2.99 there is little to complain about.

got it . love it.

you won't regret getting it. I'm just looking forward to Christmas when I can learn how to use it properly.
btw the Korg iKoasillator is £5.99, but is TREMENDOUS fun...

Animoog

Also for iPad owners have a look at Animoog. Hours of time wasting fun with a polyphonic synth. It only costs £0.69 and is incredible. I believe the price will rise significantly at some point so rush to the AppStore now.

Couple of things

Where are the instructions? Apple do seem to take it for granted that people can instinctivly use these things.

Secondly,if I plugged my guitar in (via the headphone socket?) how can I similtaneously listen to the output?

Funny you should mention that Martin

Double mini jack adaptor (natch) and a device called ampli tube iRig . It's £29.99 though. still, I'm off to Maplins to splash out on Sunday when my workweek from he'll is over. bit nervous, cos I'm gonna be using it with a yamaha d500 semi acoustic, but the reviews for using it with acoustics have been good, so I'll take a punt.

I'll be very interested in how you get on

I've got a collection of odds and sods in a drawer somewhere that I bought when I first got the macbook, I'll have a look through to see if any of them will do the job. (I suspect not!)

I'm normally a massive fan of apple but I'm a little disapointed in their lack of clarity over how to use this thing!

If you already bought GarageBand for the ipad

it's free to download to your iPhone as it's now a universal app.

I've just made my Ukulele sound like MBV

I like this so much that I will not slag off Apple for at least five minutes.
