Future Music Legends and Icons

Now I accept there is much cynicism about award ceremonies. But on the whole we broadly nod with recognition when the likes of Macca, Daltry, Prince, Townesend, Led Zepp, U2, John Martyn etc etc are recognised as icons and legends.

But as our attention is spread wider these days and our collective adoration on just a few artists is not what it was I do wonder if there will be as much value placed or agreement about who will be recognised as music legends and icons in say 20 years time. Or instead, like school exams, will they just get easier to achieve?

I assume Thom Yorke and Alex Turner's will be showered with future recognition. Who else is up there? And is there anyone we have missed in the current candidates for such awards?

They'll come from a broader spectrum...

Chris Martin will be Bono
Jay Z will be Michael Stipe
Jarvis Cocker IS John Lennon
