Favourite comedy sketch

While enjoying the entries for the worst record ever made I thought I'd share my favourite comedy sketch, which gets me every time despite having seen it on occasions too numerous to count. Spike, when on form, is simply unbeatable.

Keeping on the Goons theme

a memorable sketch would be "What time is it Eccles?"

Another great sketch Does anything compare with Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep

One Leg Too Few

I think this is Pete and Dud's greatest sketch:

'Stan Hartley didn't even have time to put his cigarette out!'

The 1933 Arsenal team play the 1991 Liverpool team (playing for the first time in black and white!) from Harry Enfield and Chums. Still reduces me to tears now, and I've seen it hundreds of times.

Staying with the football theme

This one is brilliant too

And another...

David Lodge

fantastic to see the great man in the Spike clip. "You can't do this to me.I was in the Cockleshell heroes".
and carrying on the theme

Big Train

Massively underrated sketch show from late 1990s...this one with Simon Pegg nearly always raises a guffaw

Charlie Gordon | 13 August 2008 - 7:35am

"Big Train" and "Absolutely"

Here's "Big Train"'s flagship sketch:

And here's a topical sketch from "Absolutely", showing a bid by the tiny Scottish town of Stoneybridge to host the 1996 Olympic Games:
