Shark Sandwich

I always felt that Spinal Tap's "Shark Sandwich" had a very literal sleeve design.

... and I seem to remember that the album garnered a two-word review.

Barbra Streisand's Butterfly

'Butter' and 'Fly' - see?

Although it does contain her refit of Bowie's Life On Mars which is worth a pop.

I especially like the intercapped 'F' in the title

just to ram the connection home.

stimpy | 30 April 2010 - 11:07am

But it isn't literal

They are not really chicks

Cant post pics sadly...

... but Johnny Guitar Watson's "Ain't That A Bitch" is pretty literal.

Yes

Indeed

0
WarwickHunt | 30 April 2010 - 12:57pm

Although, to be strictly accurate, it should have had a picture

of a shirt, Wishbone Ash being a brand of men's shirt in the 1960s.

(gets pedant coat)

what about?

Was over at LP cover lover

trying to find some thing to match DH's post and found this one.
Lp cover lover is just excellent the bizarreness of some of the covers verge on being "outside art". The amount of effort to make the sleeves before photoshop and yet the lack of effort in some of them if you see what i mean .

Winner

This is the cover for Walter "Junie" Morrison's Bread Alone. Junie, best known for his work as keyboard player with funk band The Ohio Players, can be seen sitting alone, surrounded by bread.

But but but...

The bread isn't alone, it has Mr Morrison to keep it company?

2
stimpy | 29 July 2010 - 4:01pm

I am picturing him...

making a giant sandwich and his mouth opening really wide so he can eat it in one go as often happened in Scooby Doo.

0
Patrick Crowther | 1 August 2010 - 11:02pm

plus he's holding up a cocktail glass containing some beverage

...so bread and wine puns galore.

Looking at the cover again and the particular dough-based foodstuff featured, maybe Mr Morrison should've re-named the album:

"The best thing since..."

.
