Fotheringay
I've just read a review in another music magazine of Fotheringay 2. It appears that Jerry Donahue, Pat Donaldson and Gerry Conway have worked on the master tapes to produce an album that "towers over their debut". I know we don't deal in star ratings around here, but it's got 5 out of 5.
This result contrasts with Joe Boyd's view of things as expressed in White Bicycles. He reckoned Sandy Denny carried the band. It existed so she could work with boyfriend Trevor Lucas. Joe stormed out of the sessions because they weren't working. He says the next day Sandy left the band.
I'll be interested to hear the record. It's also surprising that none of this stuff hasn't appeared on either of the Sandy box sets.

Cant wait
to hear this. Contrary to Joe's view I think "Fotheringay" contains some of Sandy's best work, especially "The Sea" and the glorious "Banks Of The Nile" plus the brilliant understated guitar playing of Jerry Donahue. What magazine was this in Mr P?
Sshhh....
It's in Uncut.
For some reason the November issue is out on Sept 24th.
Rubbish cover
Compared to the first one

Cover
Perhaps you're joking, I can't quite tell, but the cover of the first Forthingay album is horrible - it makes me feel sick every time I look at it. Anything is an improvement.
Gypsy Davey..
..was on the Sandy box set.
I like the first cover, wasn't it a mate of Sandys that painted it?
