Forget the wine, women and whisky...

Get a drop of this prize winning ale down you tonight. Recently voted world's best ale and available in most good stores...and Asda.
I am not related in any way to the Robinson family but I am available for adoption if they are reading this. Old Tom is a mighty fine tipple, as is Chocolate Tom and Ginger Tom. I'm getting a thirst already.

P.S. when searching Google images for above picture it first threw up a photo of Old Tom Petty. Spooky.

My partner lives not so far from the brewery so we have a few sources locally, not easy to find generally afaik but it's lovely stuff.
Nottingham Extra Pale Ale
Not available in any supermarket. If I can't spare the time to get to a proper pub I'm at least going to hunt out something a bit better than what Tescburys have to offer.
Check out BrewDog
Fantastic brewers in the North East of Scotland.......available in Tesco, Oddbins etc
Love their Punk IPA beer.....Video below.
Old Tom
Treat with extreme respect.
When I was at collge in Preston in the 80s I chaired a real ale society. We held our first meeting at the Black Horse on Friargate, a lovely Victorian pub which served Old Tom on draft. Next week people were telling me that they had two pints and couldn't remember anything after the fresh air hit them when they stepped outside.

Edit - reading the link above I see that they only serve it halves now!
From Now On
I'm only drinking Pernod in halves ...

Waggledance for me
£1.50 a bottle from Threshers. A hint of honey, mmmmm.
In my drinking days I used to like these...
NONE
in Swansea Asda. Gonna have to make do with Guiness Export at £1 a bottle. 7%?! it will do me well
Stockport's finest
May I also recommend Black Sheep Riggwelter for those who like ale strong and dark. And Westmalle Dubbel, if you can find it.
Black sheep is from Yorkshire
?
I think
Richie was referring to Old Tom.
I know JD Wetherspoon is not everyone's cup of, er, beer for decent ales but their real ale festival starts on October 28th and is always worth a visit. It boasts 50 beers but you don't get to try all 50 at once. You can get to try your beers as a third of a pint at inexpensive prices to see if you like the taste of what is on offer.
The strongest is Anker Gouden Carolus Ambrio from Belgium at 8%. I hope to get to try the Fairport Five, Brass In Pocket, Supernova or maybe Another Pint In The Wall.

In Cornwall
earlier this year I enjoyed a beer created by the local Sharp's brewery - Chalky's Bite - named in memory of Rick Stein's late dog
