The London branch has their

The London branch has their 'best of 2010' selection for £5-£8 including John Grant at a bargain basement £4. I picked up a Roy Ayers for £3 (only ever heard *of* him, not anything *by* him so seemed worth a punt..

John Grant

...what's with everybody and the John Grant? It's not worth two quid.

Bit harsh

I don't think it's the work of genius that others do by any means but there are some nice tunes on it and £4's a good deal if you've been wondering whether to get it or not. Personally I'd recommend you all to buy "Hadestown" by Anais Mitchell, but I didn't see that in their bargain racks...

Money doesn't talk, it swears

If the 'Best of 2010' cost between 5 and 8 quid and Fopp are charging 4 for the John Grant album, it seems they are, in their subtle way, agreeing with some of the naysayers on here.

I was in there yesterday.

There are a load of marked-down CD boxsets in the basement while upstairs is full of attractively-priced DVDs. Also, there's a pile of £3 copies of Nick Kent's Apathy For the Devil in front of the till ;-)

Kent

As I recall Apathy ... and The Dark Stuff were £3 each the last time I saw them in HMV, in case you haven't got a Fopp handy.

Under thirty quid the lot.

Anything I should look out for?

Closing Down Sale signs?

Peter Mandelson

His new book is already only £3 in hardback at the London Fopp. Not saying it's necessarily a bargain, but it probably says something about its popularity.

Vinyl Exchange

If you're in town for some record shopping, Vinyl Exchange on Oldham Street is well worth a visit too. Massive selection, lots of promos and low price albums. It's just off Piccadilly.

You'll need more than 50 quid if you're going in the markets

This week I've had a gluwein for €2 in Bruges and £3.50 in Manchester. Outrageous.

Fopp on Twitter

If you're on Twitter it's worth following Fopp for updates on new bargains:
www.twitter.com/foppofficial
Occasionally individual branches, such as Union Street and Bristol, post updates too:
www.twitter.com/Foppunionst
www.twitter.com/Fopp_Bristol
(I don't work for Fopp; I just give them my money.)
