I have noticed something of a backlash

against Fleet Foxes in recent months, within these august pages - sometimes approaching vitriol. I'm not sure why - possibly it has to do with their popularity and ubiquitousness.

I like them.

Not from me

I've never been convinced. Tried to like them, and even took up the offer of a ticket. They had some nice harmonies I suppose but then the hairy drummer did some solo stuff I recall, which finally broke my resolve and I made a beeline for the exit.

I for one cannot wait for the demise of the banjo & beard brigade of which FFs are but one, but I suspect we are in for another ten years of snooze-rock.

Fine, I suppose they have the Sealed Knot society to re-create medieval battles, so maybe we now have bands who re-create 1972, forever.

Vitriol? Yeah, You bet. This new conservatism in music I actually think is quite destructive.

Good stuff

Looking forward to it. Only one UK gig so far - wonder if they are lined up for any summer festivals?
