Fischer Z Marliese......skinny tie power pop

johnsimpson1965's picture

Heard this today for the first time in yonks so had a furtle round on U tube and thought i`d share it. Bit of a stalkerish song if you listen to the lyrics but the audience seem to go nuts for it......

Almost forgot

I used to love that song back in the darker reaches of adolescence... I'm not sure if I ever worked out what it was about, but then I was always a rather slow child. Great record - the only other song I recall by them was the wonderful "Limbo" - will see if a link can be found.

The Pleasers

There were a few around like them at the time. Late 77- early 78. The Look, The Stukas, Advertising and The Boyfriends to name the few I can remember off the top of my head. We affectionatly christened it THAMESBEAT.

The best power pop band in the world were

The Rubinoos

and I will accept no argument in this matter.

This is indeed

a fact.

Another fact is The Records - Starry Eyes is the best ever power pop single.

It's an amazing world

So Long by Fischer Z was such a big hit in Australia that thirty years later you can hear it on oldies radio stations alongside The Eagles and Dire Straits yet I don't think it was a hit anywhere else.

So Long - It was a hit?!

Bloody hell I never knew that - love this song and that I have it on 7" is one of the reasons that I never want to get rid of the vinyl.

Reading the first post again there was a bit of a stalker theme with the band though.
