Fireflies by Owl City is rather good IMHO

Heard this track twice now on the Ken Bruce Show and bloody love it. Is that allowed at my age? Will I be shunned by the Massive unless I quickly declare my love for RT?
Pish! For all I know Owl City could be secret lemonade drinkers and I would not care a hoot! No official videos allowed but this version has had 5m+ hits. Flip.

I heard this
a couple of weeks ago and posted it on the recent Green Gartside thread as I detect definate Scritti influence. A damn fine tune IMHO.
It's another
example of how out of touch I've fallen with the once-beloved singles chart. It was sitting at number one but drew a blank from me until I played it on Spotify, realising that I had heard it a few times previously in passing.
It's a pretty decent pop record, and different enough to be worthy of it's success (whatever that means), but I don't know if I'd want to listen to a whole album of it.
Love this track
The whole album is like being asphyxiated by white chocolate. I don't mean this in a good way; it's amazingly twee.
The Andrew Gold
revival starts here.
Why now though?
I'm sure I had this as a free download from iTunes ages ago. I can only assume it's been featured in a film or tv series or something.
Former US No.1
So it's only natural it washes up on these shores. Shame things don't work the other way round anymore.
Downloaded it!
I heard it a couple of times and it stayed with me. That hasn't happened with me and a current pop song for ages.
Sounds like
the postal service.
Infact it could be a tribute act. Listen...
Exactly what I thought
Exactly what I thought when I first heard it. A quick scan on Google revelas that we're not alone:

I adore that song
Thanks for the reminder. I also think there is a bit of Grandaddy in that Fireflies track too.
Dean
Friedman.
A nice tune.
Strange that when the Autotune is used so as to render the voice more as a keyboard instrument, it doesn't grate so much as when it is used as an overt tweak.
Anyone remember this? OK it's a Vocoder but it's still fun.
