Films / books you have enjoyed at least twice but never got to the end

cornishmanc's picture

Shaun of the Dead was on telly last week. It was pretty late and the Mrs and I were both tired so the telly went off at just after they meet their first zombie in the back garden.

I must have sat down to watch this film four times now and for various reasons never got further than half-way, maybe two-thirds max.

Any films, books etc you have actively enjoyed but failed on more than one occasion to last the distance?

not quite the same

but I'm sure I've seen all of ET, The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz - but never in one go - they are films I've seen the beginning, middle and end of on different occasions, probably even different years.

Similar Process

I've seen the first Bridget Jones and Love Actually through a similar process - wandering in and out of the room each time a family member or friend was watching them and piecing together the overlapping parts in my mind to form some semblance of the whole.

I quite like Brad Pitt but...

I rented Troy from Lovefilm and tried to watch it twice, falling asleep about halfway through on both occasions. I gave up after that and sent it back.

As I typed the above I recall that the same thing happened with Twelve Monkeys, which now seems to be fairly well regarded so I may give it another chance.

Many

Shrek, Shrek 2, Finding Nemo, Flushed Away, Madagascar etc. etc. Have seen parts of each of these upwards of 100 times but never start to end at one sitting.

Troy

is such a boring, expensive big waste of time. Twelve Monkeys is confusing, bewildering but ultimately so moving when you get to the end, absolutely worth another go [even though it's got Brad Pitt in it. He's appeared in some really great films and yeah he looks good, but i really struggle to understand what he's saying in any movie i've seen him in].
