Book: Bill Bryson's biography of Shakespeare
DVD: Early Doors box set
Should see me through 'til about Friday afternoon.

Forty Quid Bloke
Today I used my HMV Christmas gift tokens. Best of Tony Joe White, Orchestra Baobab's Pirates Choice, the Performance soundtrack (a very reasonable £5) and Tinariwen's Water Is Life which has a sticker quoting praise from Andy Kershaw (This is SENSATIONAL! The album of 2007) and several less obvious sources: The Sun (exotic, mesmerising sounds) Daily Express (This is an awe inspiring album) The Evening Standard (Contemporary desert cool) but nothing from The Word. Strange.
Orchestra Baobabs
Pirates choice is a great purchase - am sure you will love it. Wopuld welcome your comments on Best of Tony Joe White - have considered it on more than one occasion but never made the plunge - any good?
The Tony Joe White is very
The Tony Joe White is very good indeed. I bought it on the strength of this:
and the memory of a rather good session he did on Mark Lamarr's God's Jukebox a while ago.
The version I bought for £10 has 20 tracks, the version offered on both HMV and Amazon websites for around £8 has the same title and sleeve but only 14 tracks (including 2 versions of Polk Salad Annie) and only 7 in common.
Classics
Just a couple of hours ago I bought Neil Young's Harvest and Ziggy Stardust for £3.97 each in Sainsbury's, Taunton. I know. I realise that some say they are an evil corporate giant, but I needed something to do while the current Mrs Bryer was browsing the clothing section.
Christmas Booty
Thanks to the generosity of family and friends - and good old Santa- I became the proud owner of the following:
AC/DC- Plug Me In
Led Zep- Mothership
Jay-Z- American Gangster
Bryson's biog of Shakespeare; Akroyd's massive tome about the Thames and Jeremy Bowen's War Stories. Enough til mid Jan I reckon.

Xmas treats this year:
The Unseen Beatles: Book mostly comprising of photos. It is my 14th book on the Beatles. I am a nerd with a very understanding girlfriend.
Jason Falkner - I'm OK You're OK: Japanese import from this bewilderingly underexposed genius. Fan-bloody-tastic.
Paul McCartney - Memory Almost Full: After the pretty good Chaos and Creation..., wanted it to be as good, if not better. It ain't, in a big way.
Blade Runner Final Cut: Just the 2 disc version which I must get round to viewing before summer.
