Festival season
Will soon be upon us again. Whilst I detected a prevalence of naysayers in the recent 'Rock Virgin' thread I suspect there are more than a few regular festival goers perusing these ramblings.
So here's the thing. Whilst I shall be joining the queue for Glasto(nbury) again this year, I fancy spreading my wings a bit more this summer. I am far too long in the tooth for the likes of Reading, V, T etc, but I'm thinking certainly that Latitude and Cornbury might be worth a dabble.
Any other thoughts?
If it helps, I shall definitely be camping, and I shall almost certainly be going by myself (I like to follow my own agenda rather than the groups, and I like to make friends when I get there. Plus the GLW would rather stick pins in her eyes than wallow in the mud). My tastes are wide enough to accommodate virtually all musical options.
All suggestions gratefully received.

If you really want to spread your wings...
Go to Guca.
Best. Festival. Ever.
Trumpets?
And nothing but....trumpets?
I know I said my tastes were pretty wide, but....
Trumpets?
Trumpets
Yes. It's relentless. Absolutely relentless.
But it's still the best festival I've been to. 200,000 people drunk, yet no aggression or belligerence. More meat than you would think possible. Entire cows on spits. Amazonian women with pythons. Stalls selling everything from meat cleavers to gravestones. Macedonian choirs. Mayhem. And lots of trumpets.
All discussion can now end...
Fraser has obviously just described perfection. Glastonbury, V and the others may as well just give up now.
You had me at....
Amazonian Women....
Austin City Limits...
....a great 3 day festival....but I guess the downside for you is that it's in Austin....Texas....USA
Start saving for your flight now and bring sun lotion.
WOMAD
go there and see some great groups -particularly the ones you've never heard of - AND some familiar faces from this very publication.....although in my experience they are usually poking their head round from posh backstage berths :-)
I have heard exceedingly good reports
about the Larmer Tree festival in Dorset.
I have also been told that publicising this fact will bring the wrath of the few hundred who've already discovered this gem (but want it kept a secret) down upon my head.
You never saw me, alright. I ain't been here.
Green Man
I went for the first time last year, on my own - it's in a lovely setting (The Brecon Beacons), everyone I met was really friendly, and I saw a load of great bands, most of whom I'd never heard of before that weekend. Highly recommended.
