Fathers-in-law

spt's picture

Just learned that Denise Lewis' father-in-law is Tom O'Connor (yes, that Tom O'Connor). Phil Lynott's father-in-law was Leslie Crowther.

Any other unlikely relatives I should know about?

Johnny Cash

Nick Lowe's ex-father-in-law.

was the physicist Max Born.

Patrick Crowther | 5 August 2011 - 8:01pm

I've mentioned this before

but it bears repeating.
The smaller Chuckle Brother is the bigger Chuckle Brothers dad, not his brother at all, I know, amazing. To me, to you etc......

2
Dave Amitri | 5 August 2011 - 8:04pm

Dave, surely...

Dave, surely you are taking the piss.

To me, it is one of the worst kinds of leg pull, it COULD BE TRUE.

SURELY NOT ?

To you...

0
jackthebiscuit | 5 August 2011 - 8:08pm

According to Wikipedia...

...Dave is wrong. There's only a couple of years between them. But Wikipedia isn't gospel...

0
Spartacus Mills | 5 August 2011 - 8:09pm

If you type

"Chuckle Brothers father and son" into Google it opens up a vipers nest. It appears I could be misinformed but when you look at them.........

0
Dave Amitri | 5 August 2011 - 8:15pm

Yeah but...

If you type 'The Beatles Paul is dead' into Google it opens up a Viper's nest!

0
Spartacus Mills | 5 August 2011 - 8:18pm

The Chuckle Brothers...

Live on The Moon allegedly...now how do they get there :-)

0
Uncle Wheaty | 6 August 2011 - 7:52pm

Another Corrie one

The actress who plays Emily Bishop is the mother of renowned sports writer Oliver Holt.

0
Spartacus Mills | 5 August 2011 - 8:08pm

Anyone else

think the Chuckle Brothers are actually really funny?

They're often looked down on as being cheesy humour past its sell-by date. But I think they're actually pretty timeless.

0
Stephen Merrick | 11 August 2011 - 12:30am

The La's

Lee & Neil Mavers have another brother, Gary Mavers, an actor who played a lead role in Peak Practice, amongst other things.

Goodness gracious ah'll sithee

Wasn't Sophia Loren's daughter married to Fred Trueman's son once?

0
skirky | 5 August 2011 - 8:19pm

I think Stimpy has the right version on this, but

Sophia Loren's sister married Mussolini's jazz piano playing son Romano and one of their daughters, Alessandra, is an ex-MEP and a current member of the Italian parliament. I think she may not believe fascist to be an insult.

0
Melville | 6 August 2011 - 7:29pm

The story goes

That Romano played a gig with Chet Baker who was impressed with his playing. In conversation afterwards Chet came out with "Drag about the old man". If this isn't true it should be.

0
Ralph | 7 August 2011 - 7:10pm

Another footie one...

Bradley Orr of QPR is the uncle of Jon Flanagan of Liverpool. They may well play against each other this season.

0
Spartacus Mills | 5 August 2011 - 8:23pm

Similarly unlikely..

Thora Hird's daughter was for a while married to Mel "Velvet Fog" Torme

0

0

0
Topical Tim | 5 August 2011 - 8:36pm

Martin Short and Clare Short

are cousins. As are Shimon Peres and Lauren Bacall.

0
Melville | 5 August 2011 - 8:36pm

Confusing or what?

If Bill Wyman had managed to stay married to Mandy Smith a bit longer, his son Stephen would have become his father in law - when he married Mandy's mum.

Is that what they call

"jumping the shark?"

0
Pax Romana | 6 August 2011 - 6:55pm

I've mentioned this before

Don Spencer from Playschool (chirpy Aussie, often accompanied by his guitar) is the father in law of laugh a minute Russell Crowe.

And wouldn't Elvis (had he cut down on the cheeseburgers) have been the father in law of Nic Cage and Fulham's own Michael Jackson.

2
Paul Wad | 5 August 2011 - 9:33pm

Just also remembered my surprise

learning that chirpy cockney gardener Joe Swift is Margaret Drabble's son.

At my school...

My 5th form maths teacher got engaged, and married, the daughter of my gym teacher who was a year above me in 6th form whilst she was only 17!

He left at the end of the year but she went on to study the same course as me at the same University so unsurprisingly I saw him on a couple of occasions after that.

Surprisingly he never made eye contact!

0
Uncle Wheaty | 6 August 2011 - 7:58pm
