Fantasy Band Line Up A-Z

David Wright's picture

As I sat in the dentist's chair this afternoon, I was thinking of the fascinating supergroups you could create if bands were made up of members with the same first name only. For example A would consist of:

Andy Williams- Vocals
Andy Summers- Guitars
Alan White Drums
(Can't think of a bass player whose name begins with A at the present time, poor effort I know)
Alan Clark- Keyboards

Is it possible to reach the letter Z? The fantasy band must consist of one vocalist, bass, guitar and keyboards.

Nominations for band "B" welcome please and a bassist for the above band A.

Mea culpa (as much as anybody else)

We're moving away from the original brief aren't we?, which was all members with the SAME first name i.e. not just initial. I could have had a band of Neil's except for the bloody bassist!

0
Obdewlla | 23 February 2009 - 11:41pm

But...

The original 'band' was split between Alans and Andys.

PS. Neil Stubenhaus (bass - Barbra Streisand, Quincy Jones)

0
Fraser Lewry | 23 February 2009 - 11:43pm

Even David's

original post doesn't match up to the criteria, mostly because it's bloody hard!

Badartdog, Los Campesinos! have a drummer called Ollie Campesinos! (Possibly not his real surname?) I knew my unhealthy interest in this band would come in useful one of these days...

0
Gav Leonard | 23 February 2009 - 11:44pm

Steve Harris - Bass
Steve Strange - Keyboards
Steve White - Drums

0
phil spector | 24 February 2009 - 1:23am

My supergroup of Steves has a girl in it!!

Guitar - Steve Gaines - a victim of the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash.

Guitar - Stevie Ray Vaughan - another victim of air travel...shit.

Singin' - Stevie Nicks - One time Fleetwood Mac singer. Also in the band to dilute the ugliness.

Bass Guitar - Steve Earle - The leader of The Dukes served his apprenticeship playing bass in Guy Clarks band. Other duties are between song rants and the putting down of hecklers with smart arse one liners.

Drums - I don't know any drummers so this is going to have to be a bluegrass combo.

I too could be a member. I could be a roadie or a food taster/groupie tester.

There's an Ulf at the door....

Ulf Wakenius that is. Rhymes with genius.

0
Retropath2 | 24 February 2009 - 11:33am

Jesus H. Christ that's awful!

How Ulf manages to make a beautiful guitar like that sound as bloody terrible as he does is a mystery that I do not expect to find an answer to.

Where on earth did you hear about this guy? And who the feck is he?!

0
Patrick Crowther | 24 February 2009 - 1:47pm

Confession

tapped Ulf and guitar into google......(My memeory had suggested to methat one of the Scorpions was, or is, called Ulf) When that moustache came up, I just knew it was irony time. In fact, there was a choice of many Ulf axe-heroes, absolutely none of which had I ever heard of.
