Fags and Fan Mags

Just out of curiosity you understand, I did a bit of light browsing in the music mags section of my well stocked corner shop this week. No serious competition there, needless to say, but there was one surprising addition to the shelves. A Kings of Leon magazine.
When did this caper start then? I quite like their current album but is there really enough to say about one, relatively new band, to fill a whole magazine and are they all going to start now? Arctic Monkeys Monthly?

i know this isn't what you're asking but...
anyone remember those magazines that were all about one act and folded out into a huge poster of said band? Wonder what became of them - big in the punk rock years as I recall. Glam too - in fact a mates mum (MUM) had Marc Bolan pinned up on the red and gold flock wallpaper in the lounge alcove!
They've knocked out four albums in five years
...and Only By The Night has sold in huge numbers since its release last autumn, so I guess they were worth a punt - but I hear your point, it does seem a little soon.
Isn't it better that there are new names in that market, as the usual suspects of Bruce, Neil, etc have surely been all journoed out by now?
By the way, the Britpop one currently on shelves is very good indeed. (Sorry, TPTB.)
It seems to have been a long time
since I last did any lurking in the music mags section and things have evidently moved on. I didn't even know there was a Britpop one out there. Have to admit I didn't actually read the contents of the KOL one, might have to go back and investigate some more.
I've got a vague memory of those mag posters badartdog, but you have reminded me of the time my mum put up a poster of Shakin Stevens in the kitchen, much to the annoyance of my dad. I'm not sure my mum has even heard of Marc Bolan.
I used to work for a company
who churned out instant fan mags the minute a singer or a band became famous. They had a short shelf-life but sold really well. It was all the rage once, not so much now.
Indeed....
The FPO still has her Bros and Rick Astley ones.......
I'd love a complete run of
I'd love a complete run of 'The Rolling Stones' monthly.
Would there be a market for a book compilation of them?
