Everybody Hurts

Beany's picture

I heard the charity record for Haiti this morning and must admit to liking the cause but not the record. Don't get me wrong, I've actively supported charities all my working life but I only buy charity records if I like the the song or if I collect records by a particular artist - the sad completist in me.

Here are a few in my collection.

Ferry Aid - Let It Be. Contains Sir Thumbs Aloft and Lady Kate

Who Dares - Doctor In Distress. Sits in my the box marked "so bad it's good". Contains Colin Baker, Justin Hayward and others too shameful to mention. For Cancer Research.

Pulp - Bad Cover Version. Sadly this spoof of Band Aid does not appear on YouTube (legal reasons?) but here are some photos. The Brian May lookalike is Jarvis.

I don't know...

...but I think it might be Shirley off of Eastenders as Rod Stewart.

Thanks for reminding me of this, btw - I actually bought the DVD single but it's years since I've seen it.

Great cover too

The cover, featuring a young Mark Webber, recreates the sleeve of David Bowie's 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars. It was taken outside furriers, K. West, at 23 Heddon Street, London, W1.

Any fule kno that.

Nick Cave & Roisin Murphy

In what is, I think, a post-ironic comment on the track's title, there are very good versions of the Pulp tracks Disco 2000, by Nick Cave, and Sorted, by Roisin Murphy, on the second version of the CD single.

It might be The Shat

there's a link to the Shatner/Ben Folds/Joe jackson version of Common People at the bottom of that clip. Well worth a view if you've never seen it.

Seen it. Got it

The whole LP is rather lovely too. Mind you, I own his earlier attempts, alongside my Nimoy CDs...

They just showed

the video for "Everybody Hurts" on ITV. Very moving and I hope it raises a fortune. The scenes from Haiti removed my pathetic Sunday night gloom about another week at work. My one observation was out of all of the voices on there Susan Boyles bit stands out a mile, she has the purest of pure voices.
