Am I the only person to have watched 30 Rock on British TV?

The recent Word Magazine e-newsletter, indicated that 'There's no sign of this appearing in the UK,' which is of course cobblers!

The oft-criticised Five showed it earlier this year on a Thursday evening after the equally great 2nd series of the David Duchovny vehicle Californication.

That 30 Rock was shown on Five indicates why no-one realised it had been broadcast in the UK. Viewing figures were pitiful.

Still, there's always the DVD!

Saw the first one...

...and it didn't grab me I'm afraid.

Loved Californication though, but 2nd series? I didn't think Series Two had started yet?

Californication

You are right. Series 2 kicks off in The States on Sunday night. So it will be here soon after I presume.

IF YOU LOOK HARD ENOUGH

Well you don't have to look THAT hard.
the first two episodes of series 2 are on certain filesharing websites. they are pre-air episodes. Very common with Showtime programmes. Hank is back

Saw it on a plane

Reading the Word newsletter just now I wondered the same. I was sure I'd seen 30 Rock featured a while back in the weekly tv listings. Didn't ever watch it though.

I did watch a single episode on a recent flight. Seemed OK, probably something I'd maybe give a proper try if I could see it from the start.

Much better were the three episodes of Flight of the Conchords I also watched on the flight. Now there was a show that within the first couple of minutes had grabbed my attention. Ordered the DVD the day I got home.

My fault

Channel Five has so little profile in my house I just assumed it hadn't been shown.

Remember, David :

"assume" makes an ass of you and me.
I'll get me coat...

"assume"

Just remember, there's no 'I' in 'team' but there are three in 'platitude spouting idiot'. I think that's actually my coat...

Numeracy.

Either I've lost the ability to count, or there are four 'I's in 'platidude spouting idiot'. Strangely, nary a one in 'pedant'. And I'm sure the coat's mine. Look, there's that rip in the lining where I put my foot in it...

I don't think it has much of a profile anywhere

I've just done a search on the Guardian website and it appears it was first shown last Autumn on Five, rather than earlier this year.

This particular ratings article reports that it was getting 200K viewers.

Even for Five that's pretty pathetic - no wonder you missed it, Mr Hepworth!

Hey,

nice research, Dave!

I watched a few of the first series

but somehow it didn't really seem to fit coming on after Californication, which was a little darker. Also, it was on around the same time as Studio 60 on Sunset Strip and the two were quite similar.

I saw it too.

It was rubbish.

Californication was good though; glad to hear there's a second series. Pity the same can't be said for Studio 60, which I would have enjoyed a lot more except I already knew it had been cancelled.

Says it all about US TV, IMHO, that Studio 60 was ditched yet 30 Rock wins an Emmy. :/

Oops!

I assumed ('you' and me 'again') it would be a cheesy American sitcom about a rapper.
You can understand my mistake, can't you?

anyway, the clips I watched on YouTube were right up my street, thanks for the tip

I liked it

Alec Baldwin is brilliant as the boss. Give it another go if you get the chance.

Not as good as Californication though.
