Eno - liver salt?
Posted by MarkHagen on 12 January 2010 - 7:00pm.
In a vain atempt to keep middle age at bay, it was off to the gym for me tonight.
What was playing over the loudspeakers when I got there? This...

Eno
Actually that period Eno sounds fantastic at the moment. If only I'd thought to make a sign for this at the Springsteen shows
Or this:
Well, maybe not that one.
And after seeing Patti Palladin at the Rich Kids show last week, how brilliant is this?
Very brilliant I'd say...
That period Eno...
...always sounds fantastic. I'm particularly fond of this:
Another Green World was the first CD I bought, at Sleeves Records on Cow Wynd in Falkirk. Proprietor one borderline maniac named Roy. Aidan from Arab Strap worked there for years pre-'stardom'.
Were I, heaven forfend, forced to go to the gym, there can't be many better soundtracks.
It's an anagram for Talking Heads
... but I guess you knew that.
Yeah...
..but always good to let others know.
I do believe...
...I've been there myself, usually when en route to the Maniqui...
Certainly beats 'Hi Energi Explosion vol 24'
Which I believe was playing the last time I went to a 'gym'.
My current state of fitness means that were I to work out to any of the Eno 'canon' at the moment, it would have to be 'Music for airports'

The Coo Wynd!
Sleeves! Jings, crivvins, help ma Boab etc.
I worked in Falkirk between 1982 - 84, many happy memories of browsing and purchasing there.
This thread might jog some memories - http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/content/oh-record-shops-we-used-know
Wasn't there also the Coo Wynd Record Exchange, I remember renting a Bauhaus vid off them? Small, bit of a 'head' or 'heid' shop further up the Wynd. Sleeves was the place I not only tracked down a much searched for 12" but got it for £1.99 - A Gigantic Raft in the Philippines by It's Immaterial.
Marvelous! Isn't it? Wasn't it? :D
a bit of early eno
was used in Waterloo Road just before xmas. I became cool again in my daughters eyes as I handed over Here Come The Warm Jets.
