England, oh England, oh England.

OK, I know that the thrice-a-year 'should Lampard and Gerrard play in the same midfield' debate is on hold because Gerrard is injured, but is that really good enough reason to start, again, the thrice-a-year 'who should be England captain' debate?

Shouldn't the media conduct, once and for all, the 'WHEN ON EARTH ARE THESE HABITUAL LOSERS ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE (WHICH 'WILL' HAPPEN AGAIN) GOING TO BE PUT OUT OF THEIR, AND THEREFORE OUR, COLLECTIVE MISERY' debate?

At least the recent trials and tribulations in France and Italy came at the end of a successful period for both countries.
You know, World Cup wins/European Championship wins, silly little things like that.

But Cashley, Beckham, Ferdinand, Terry (about 400 caps between them!!!!) et al.
Not even reached a semi-final.....despite always getting the easiest draw.

As an, Englishman and Londoner, born and bred, can I just add:
COME ON WALES.

Call me a cynical old

bastard, but it's largely a sponsorship thing - Beckham, Terry and Ferdinand increase their value to sponsors by being the England captain, less so with Beckham probably. That's why Terry and Ferdinand are like two ferrets in a sack fighting over who should be the captain. A plague on all of them quite frankly though if I had to make the choice, I ould give Ferdinand the job irrespective of the fact that he walked out on Leeds United. At least he tries to give something back, Terry and his family are all takers.

PLEASE STOP SHOUTING

And if you don't think this debate should be started, then why pursue it so vigourously here? You've made it absolutely clear in plenty of previous posts the low regard in which you hold England footballers, which is perfectly fine, but I don't understand why you keep returning to the subject if it bothers you so much.

To your final point

I'd never reach from here, Lenny?

It all over the media....

...and I thought we'd got over this.
HADN'T YOU?
When I step in a cow pat and my shoe smells I stop treading in the same cow pat. Why do they keep returning to the cow pat? You don't find that remarkable?

(PS 'low regard' really doesn't cover it)

Well...

To be honest, I wasn't even aware the issue had been raised again until you raised it. C'est la vie.

I think Capello should throw caution to the wind....

...and select this team:

Hart
Johnson Ferdinand Ferdinand Cole
Johnson Gerrard Lampard Cole
Johnson Cole

Natch as we all know, Gerrard & Lampard in midfield doesn't quite work, so alternative suggestions welcome (and the keeper).

Blimey

Thats a bit harsh on our Glen and our Cashley expecting them to cover the whole of both flanks single handed AND score all the goals.

It's pathetic.

End of story.

The captain

should be picked each game. It's not a job, it's an honour and it should go to the most respected player in the 11.

Oh I Dunno

The English are now 70% middle class. Bring on Ireland.
