Elvis Costello tour
Posted by itf on 10 February 2009 - 1:57pm.
Just noticed that Elvis Costello is playing a few shows around the country with the Brodsky Quartet, yet bafflingly his website makes no mention of it at all?
The shows aren't listed on his web site, Ticketmaster aren't selling tickets, nor are SeeTickets, but the various venues are!
Anyway, sounds like an interesting night out and thought I'd let the Word massive know, in case it had passed everyone else by too. Show are in Basingstoke, Manchester, Glasgow, London and Birmingham that I've found so far...

Well after his pronouncement
that he was never going to play here again cos we, the UK audiences, don't appreciate him then maybe he is aiming to play to half empty houses and say 'There, told you so!'
I heard about the gigs from the 'nasty little trainspotter' hotline but I am odd that way
Bloody hell
It will be empty halls. Looks like these have been on sale since December, and I've only just caught wind of it now. Given that I got tickets on Row D, it does seem like they're not shifting like hot cakes...
Got mine
Not sure if he has new product due out with Brodsky Quartet or whether its just because they are mates or whatever.
He does have an album with T Bone Burnett due out sometime in the summer which should be interesting.
As the Coward Brothers?
Sounds good to me.
It's not because
not many people enjoy him playing with the Brodsky quartet the lp's were hardly flying off the shelves in the first place. Coldplay don't have to hire skywriters to sell out their tours in 10 minutes after all?
Part of it
But I'm just wondering how the hell you'd find out about the shows in the first place. Had a friend not told me he'd booked, I wouldn't have had a clue.
I imagine that Chris Martin's bunch at least have the tour dates on their own bloody web site. And I seem to remember no little publicity for their summer shows...
Got mine too
Front row Circle at the Bridgewater in Manchester.
Thanks for the heads up itf - not seen Elvis for a long time and it just might work with the Brodsky's in this venue (which is essentially a classical concert hall).
But I fear for the turnout - looads of seats still available at all prices.
Reminds me of the Randy Newman quip...
..."I'd like to thank all of you for coming tonight, especially those of you dressed up as empty seats!".
