Elbow sorted; now for Doves...
Now that Elbow appear to have been taken under the Word posse's collective wing, I think it's time we moved onto Doves, another great Greater Manchester band that has been over-looked for too long.
How's this for starters?

Agree,
they are a great band. Saw them support Travis in Belfast way back in 2002. Have not stopped listening to them since.
They are terrific
but where have they been for the last four years. Wasn't their last album out in 2004?
writing, recording,
childrening, re-writing, re-recording. Something should appear next year I believe. In the meantime they play Oxford in September as a warm up to Forever Heavenly at the Royal Festival Hall on the 12th of September.
Heavenly...McGee was into deals, Barrett was into moves.
I think
they are going to play live soon and might be working on a new record, can't find any definite info though.
Great band who really improved with each album so it was a shame they stopped for such a long time.
Lost Souls
is one of the best albums of this decade.
Bloody ages
I like Doves, they don't really get mentioned much as is noted above: they've been away bloody ages! If the next album isn't their best after this long, there is something seriously wrong.
For me, I'd say Lost Souls just pips the two which followed.
3 albums
I rate highly. Their music engages me and sustains my interest in a way Elbow's does not, I have to say. 'Black and White Town' was a tremendous single, in my view:
I thought
they were one and the same?
You clearly wouldn't know your...
Doves from your Elbow.
