Easy picture posting

Gatz's picture

Once in a while someone will say that they don't know how to post pictures in their blog posts, and I've just noticed that Imageshack, the site I use for my pics here, has an exceptionally easy way of doing it. So,
• Find your picture and save it to your computer (the desktop will do fine)
• Go to http://imageshack.us/
• No need to register, just use the browse button to find your picture and hit the ‘Upload Now’ button
• When it has uploaded copy contents of the HTML Code box into your post
• Preview your post. If the image is too big you may need to use Paint or something similar to alter the size. If you do resize it return to step 3 and repeat

And that’s it. Hope this helps some frustrated would-be picture-posters

Thanks, Gatz.

Proper useful. Multiple ups for you.

Yep top stuff have an up arrow

Re resizing alternatively :As the springsteen post above shows if bruce has put on a few pounds and is splurging across the page you can type " width= 300 " after the url but before the ">" and the picture should fit the space. Play around with this number to get it to fit.
You also use flickr which gives the code for your pics.

Flickr

also give you a choice of sizes to download after you've posted it - easier and better than resizing a much larger image.

Also might want to try Tiny

Also might want to try Tiny pic

http://tinypic.com/

They seem to allow more bandwidth before pulling the picture like Imageshack

I use www.divshare.com

who seem to have a huge allowance. My 'bucket' still seems to contain every picture I've ever uploaded here.

Now for the next bit..

From the stream of HTML, delete the last bit about imageshack and you just get the pic without the stuff underneath.

Er...

I did refer you to this selfsame post by Gatz about two months back. It's how I learned.
But have an arrow - there'll be no stopping you now...

Ye Gods!

What

0
DougieJ | 13 January 2011 - 11:20pm

So I've done all this

How to post a picture

will still remain the mythical holy grail among Word posters. Like the quest for the perfect version of Smile, or the definitive track listing of The Beatles LP (some say The White Album).

Test

Nope.

FFS This is getting annoying now.

0
Zanti Misfit | 28 August 2011 - 11:13pm

The URL is wrong

Imageshack direct link URLs start "img" not "ing".

Nearly

0
Zanti Misfit | 29 August 2011 - 10:47am

Nope

We don't use [img] tags.

This is what you need to insert:

<img src="http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/8426/stanlaurelxt7.jpg">

Go on, try it.

Fraser Lewry | 29 August 2011 - 10:52am

Sorry Fraser

You must think I'm an utter moron but I did that and it's still not happening. Do I literally type out what you put? I've tried variations (leaving out the inverted commas) Is there a space between the 7 and the forward slash?

0
Zanti Misfit | 29 August 2011 - 11:23am

Spaces

There are no spaces in URLs.

^ This is the result of simply copying and pasting the HTML text in my earlier comment into this particular comment. Precisely.

Imageshack...

If you've used the 'forum' code and it's not worked, try copying and pasting the 'alt forum' code. It worked for me.

Tadah!

Test 3

I did it, Ollie!

*ruffles hair and does Stan hands*

Now, to try another one.

0
Zanti Misfit | 29 August 2011 - 12:03pm

You certainly did, Stanley!

Thanks to all and for Mr Lewry's patience.

I need to go on a course, don't I?
