"Dum de dum, de dum de dum..."

The Archers - it's that thing just after the news - is nearly sixty, and look, here's a list of things about it. Amaze your friends, etc...

I may have got the theme tune slightly wrong up there.

Barwick Green
is the name of the theme music you so accurately typed out.
It has the same tempo as Nellie The Elephant apparently.
Why would you do that?
I thought this was going to be about Curb Your Enthusiasm.
*leaves disappointed*
Indeed...
...if you do first-aid training, you used to be advised to revive someone to the beat of Barwick Green or Nellie the Elephant.
Being deeply tragic, I know all bar one of those facts.
Spot on with your dum de dums
I knew it was about the Archers when I read it. I've managed to set my internal clock so I can whistle along to the theme, then turn the radio off and switch it back on just in time to hear the closing theme, without having to endure too much 'Eddie, the cows have escaped at Lower Locksley' stuff...
There's more to it than that these days
It can actually be rather sensational. It's full of troublesome youngsters, and there's a gay couple.
Of course, were it on TV everyone would heap it with ridicule, but because it's on Radio 4, it's officially OK.
But it seems to work fine in 15-minute chunks. Any more would be way too much.
I thought it was a thread
about the Genesis song I know what i like (lawnmower song) or whatever it was called.
There is talk of changing the National Anthem
to Land Of Hope and Glory (shut up!), I'm with Billy Connolly
from 2:20 (or 4:30ish)
