Downton Abbey

chumpy's picture

Never mind that management deadline... Here's something more pressing! Which rock stars would play which parts in Downton Abbey? I nominate Macca to play the Earl of Grantham as he is an established, titled member of the British (pop) aristocracy who marries a wealthy American socialite. Your turn...

Never mind which stars could take a part in it,

which ones could re-write the dreadful plotting and scripting we were lumbered with last night? Ye gads, it was dire. Some of the cast looked embarrassed to be in it.

Downton Abbey?

Is that that brief collection of scenes of domestic servants talking in corridors in amongst all those bloody adverts?

It's only about 17 minutes long in reality, isn't it?

Madonna as O'Brien

Po-faced cow that she is.

I love DA, but it's got very soapy lately. And does it really need to rattle through the years at such a pace. At this rate it'll be 1970 by the series' end. Heartbeat spent 17 years in the Sixties.

Good and bad

The writing isn't good. And most of the characters are rather thinly drawn. And it's been going downhill every episode in season 2.

But it's still good mainstream stuff. I can't remember the last time I watched drama on ITV.

Catastrophic decline...

It started off well and the first season was enjoyable but the recent few episodes have been risible and clunky. Kept expecting French and Saunders to appear.

Van Morrison as Carson the head butler?

Downton....

.....has turned into The Fast Show.
If any scene is longer than about 45 seconds, it is halted immediately and we are thrown into the next 28 or 33 second scene.

Oi! Fellowes.....slow it down, son.
