Down with this sort of thing - Nickelback

James Blast's picture

"This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime."

big news

Yeah James, this is surprisingly big news over here. It was the lead story on Yahoo and MSN this morning. There were also accounts of how NHL fans in Winnipeg wanted Nickelback banned from one of their games too. I must admit I'm not familair with their music, but they certainly seem to have riled up their detractors!

"I must admit I'm not familiar with their music"

I'm jealous.

Alas I do know what they're like.

A pedant writes......

Nickelback are NOT a Detroit band.

This is a "big thing" - the Detroit Thanksgiving game is always nationally televised.

Previous half time entertainment includes Mariah Carey

That would suggest

that the concept of 'entertainment' is fairly fluid.

They are one god-awful act.

Ken Bruce played a track by them this week and claimed it was 'good'. This mildly upset me. Sort it out Ken!
