Doppelganger Blues
Posted by marsonator on 18 March 2010 - 10:38am.
I didn't mind being a Keanu Reeves doppelganger when I was 20 back in '88 but I've now turned into Alexei Sayle........bloody hell, at this rate I'll be one of those Sontaran geezers off Dr Who by the time I'm 50.......any other depressing deteriorations........

Heh
I was Tim Burgess at 18, now a cross between Stewart Lee, post-haemmorhage Edwyn Collins and Dan Ackroyd...
I was Suggs at 18,
and, erm, still Suggs.
John Taylor
at 17, Dennis Taylor at 42.
I looked a bit like morrissey when I was younger
Now I look a bit like morrissey now he's older. But not as cool.
As a young man
I looked like a young Dan Akryod (no bad thing) and sounded like a young Dustin Hoffman (ditto). Now I just look like my dad (bad thing) and sound "Canadian" (to those from this lil' isle).
I looked a bit gangly and awkward...
...when I was a kid, but now I look like Dom Joly. I'm not sure if that's a deterioration or not.
Spitting image ..
.. of John Peel (Long hair & beard days.) when I was 18-19 in '70-'71.
Now my face looks like dried orange peel.
As a late teen
I was said to resemble a certain bassist from the HJH.
I don't think you could make that comparison any more, not least due to the addition of glasses and several stone of culinary abuse along with the shiny dome now adorning the spot where my glorious, if slightly straggly and greasy, thatch used to be.
Mistaken for Dave Gahan as a nipper. Now,
...an unholy genetic splice of Theo Paphitis and Kerry Katona's husband.
The three ages of man...
Teenager - Leo Sayer (post clown makeup)
Twenties - John Martyn (Bless the weather era)
Ever since - William Shatner (post TJ Hooker...)
Haircut+Shave+Food = Hammy the fat bloke
And a fourth, temporary age
Forgot - grew the beard back at Christmas several years ago. Picked up visitor at station, his first comment was "Phil Jupitus?".
Drove home and shaved. Haven't grown a beard since...
As a teenager Matt Goss
As a twenty something Moby
Now a thirty something and its all gone a bit Jimmy Somerville.
Sadly though a friend once said I reminded him of Bob Hoskins, that seems to be where my future lies...
As a teenager: James Dean.
Now: James Dean - post tragic vehicular collision.
