Why?

Have they stopped selling cassettes?

Find the website that shows the stores taking part with live music and stuff.

Just for the day, many artists are issuing special releases which will only be available for sale in independent shops. Vinyl singles from Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan are among those that have been pressed to mark the event.

Don't even know where my nearest independent record shop is

Monmouth? Nope.
Abergavenny? Nope.
Hay-On-Wye? Not a specialist one, just a few old vinyl records in some of the second hand book shops.
Hereford? Not as far as I can find.

And none on the list in Belfast...

Still, it's only the capital city in Northern Ireland. (For the record there are still some, though admittedly not great, indies in Belfast.)

I was just about to post this on my blog!

I went into town to support the event - bought the Tom Waits single in Avalanche (plus the best of The Move, The Supersuckers Get It Together CD&DVD and the new Wooden Shjips, with bonus mix CD), then on to Monorail where I bought the new Kid Congo and they gave me a goodie bag of half a dozen sampler CDs, and a bakewell tart.

£50 bloke is alive and well and shopping in Glasgow.

I *heart* Avalanche

That is all...

not many left now in Glasgow

When I was in, Sandy told me that Lost In Music had closed - that building is being developed for flats. Although I often got a sore neck from scanning through the CDs there (stored upright so you crick your neck and walk into people when reading through them) I did pick up some gems there down the years and also offloaded a big pile of CDs when I had a major clear-out. Of course, I maximised my return by taking some CDs instead of cash for the stuff I handed in ....

I went to my local

and bought myself "Kind Of Blue", but they didn't seem to be supporting the event particularly. Good crowd in there though...
