Does What It Says On The Tin...
I was driving into work this morning listening to this...
Perfect spring morning: bright, sunny, warm (with a slight sea breeze coming in) and I reckon this is the perfect soundtrack. I always dig it out around now, possibly 'cos there is a song on it called 'April 5th'; which sticks in my mind. One of the best albums of the 80's, probably because it isn't mired in Fairlights and Linn Drums; everything just sounds... "woody".
Anyone else got an album which they reckon is redolent of a particular time of year?

perfect summer music...
Heyday by the Church . Shimmering guitars , glorious tunes and songs about starting " the car for 10 mile beach or maybe Avalon across the water " and " cruising down this shuddering highway with the dead sun shining on my back". A beautiful complete set of songs for summer from a much neglected band . This one came out in 1985 and they're still regularly releasing great records !
Candleland
Ian McCullough's 'Candleland' always takes me back to late October, early November as the nights are drawing in. Haven't played it a lot over the last 20 or so years but it instantly takes me back. Downloaded it about a month ago, having lost the original cassette, and I was a 17 year old on a bus riding home from college once more. I've no idea why this record does this to such a degree. It is a very good album though.
The hastening of days, shortly after the autumn equinox,
always makes me reach for "Grave New World" by The Strawbs, which has a warm, dark grandeur that sits exceedingly well with long September evenings as the summer's glory begins to ebb.
Heyday....
contains one of my favourite instrumental pieces of music - "Happy Hunting Ground".
