remember during one or other of the moon visits in the 70's, ITV having a mock-up of the moonscape, and 2 blokes dressed in spacesuits copying what the actual astronauts were doing, presumably becase ITV didn't have the rights to it?
I know it sounds bizarre; I remember one of the suits falling over during World of Sport, causing Dickie Davies to crack up.

Don't remember that
but it sounds priceless. On You Tube maybe? For my marginally later generation one golden telly moment was the 83 or 87 election night. After polls closed and before the results programmes started ITV had a Spitting Images special which climaxed, post credits, with a puppet of right wing newsreader Alastair Burnet ranting until his drunkard's nose messily exploded. This then cut straight to the man himself, live, looking very uneasy indeed. A great 'two fingers to the lot of you' moment.
ah yes
this was in the days when TV continuity was controlled by TV people pushing buttons and moving faders in real-time, rather than being entirely automated and computerised and then contracted out to a third party as it is now (yawn). Also one suspects that the "high-ups" might not have been aware ahead of time of quite how this particular link was going to happen, tee hee.
Anyway
Two questions - was that newsreader really partial to a little refreshment ?
and
Did that moon walk mockup really happen? If so then it could be up for a Genius Idea Award :) I certainly hope a tape still exists.
