December Word
Posted by theglasscyclist on 7 November 2011 - 1:12pm.
Can I claim my prize for the first subscriber to get the new issue?
This must be a record, postie has been a little over an hour ago with the December issue of The Word, Kate Bush adorning the front cover and the website still has Noel's November cover!
Thank you your wonders to behold.

Got mine
At the stroke of 9am this morning by Rob our regular postie who drives around this part of the Dales like he's rallydriving. Will open and dip into it over my lunch shortly.
Yep mine was here
at 9am and I'm also in it. any advances? :-)
Please tell me it's not...
...a load of '...Of The Year' type lists, like last December's...
That's the January edition (comes out in Dec)
And I suspect there'll be plenty of Of The Year stuff then. But I like that.
It's not.
I've had a sneak preview...
Roll on that second Thursday...
...in December! :-D
Actually, if there's still room in that issue alongside the 40 page spread on John McLaughlin, perhaps we could all do a bit of straw-pollery on what the next advertorial should be:
Beds! Word staff recall their childhood bed, their all-time favourite duvets and test out the latest in lavish lounging from Honest Dave's House Of Dreams: Bicester's Top-Rated Beds Warehouse! Sale NOW ON!!!
Saucepans! Non-stick nuances and shiny shenanigans from the Wordies as they ask 'What's REALLY the best saucepan to heat this can of beans in? And do we REALLY need a soundtrack of Judas Priest's 'British Steel' while we're at it?' Plus: win a year's supply of Heinz Baked Beans and the Complete Works Of Nick Lowe!
Cars! More cars our readers will never afford! Ripping reportage from Bernie Ecclestone's entourage as the Word team hang around the VIP enclosure at some racing thing drinking champagne and mentioning the Dubai Classic repeatedly and enthusiastically within earshot of Bernie's PR girl...
This is the first time
I have subscribed to a magazine so I look forward to a brand spanking new Word on my doormat when I get in tonight or I will unleash hell.
Now then
where did I tie up hell?
I knew it. I just bloody knew it. Came home after a splendid evening to no Word. Balls.
Lunchtime
It is wet and miserable outside, and I'm in front of the fire with a cuppa and the new Word!
Clearly, Twang...
...you're not regretting that subsciption now!
E-edition
As a new subscriber I was wondering when I might expect to receive my e-edition. I assume it comes to my usual email address.
E-dition
It goes out the week after new addition hits the shelves, and it sent to whichever address you used when subscribing to the magazine.
What is this E-dition of which you speak?
E-edition
The e-edition usually arrives about a week after the hard copy as far as I remember, and yes it is to the address you used when you subscribed.
No sign of the Welsh edition.
I've been reduced to flicking through a back issue of the GLW's Glamour magazine whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. This is causing me to develop a twww
ittt
chh.
Safely delivered here at about ten this morning
But no CD! The bag had become unsealed in transit. Still, looks like a good issue judging by the skim over a sandwich at lunchtime.
CD
Drop me a line and we'll sort out a replacement.
Thanks Fraser
I have sent you a mail. You are sir, a scholar and a gentleman.
Mine too
I'm a new subscriber and received my copy in my postbox around 1.30pm. Our post never arrives before then and the postie wears shorts all year round, regardless of the Cornish weather.
"the postie wears shorts all year round"
...he must be looking a bit pasty by now...
CD
Have found the CD less than impressive recently, but threw the new issue's one in the laptop when I got it (about 1.00pm, if anyone's keeping count) and am currently burning all but 3 of the tracks- probably a record for a "free" cover CD.
(Will probably go back to those 3 tracks anyhow...)
Quick flick through the contents seems to show a lot of smaller bite-size articles- not a bad thing for a man of decreasing concentration span.
Any Subcribers Letter
that starts with the words "Luke Haines" gets me for another 12 months.
Kate Bush and Mike Scott in the same issue
That makes me very happy.
Whaaaat?
You'll be telling me you've got her on the front cover next...
WHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? [Faints]
..and Mike Scott?
It must be time for this again, then:
A splendid issue.
Kate Mossman's review of The Human Centipede 2 convinced me that I really never need to see such a thing.
Am shocked,
thread on the new issue and not a single word of complaint, yet. Mine was a little creased around the edges, will ask the butler to iron out later.
Hurrah!
New issue waiting for me when I got home.
First month in three that there's not been a delay.
Obviously the postman prefers Beatles and Beatle tribute acts to sultry songstresses.
Fraser - unscientic survey info...
...just in case there's a more general problem at your packing facility my copy arrived (properly sealed) sans CD. No replacement necessary - just letting you know...
They are all
Turning up nice and early this month. I, too, would like to thank Ms Mossman for watching 'The Human Centipede' so I didn't have to. And the bravery award goes to Messrs Hepworth and Ellen for including another advertorial so soon after the last one.
Fraser - an embargo please
In the interests of collegiality there should be no discussion on the blog about the new issue of Word until it has reached all subscribers.Given my experience, we can open the thread around the second week of December.
excellent CD in the Noel issue b.t.w.
I'm with Junior..
..a moratorium until us colonials have been received our fix.
What's in it then?
Styx
A two page how not to buy piece.
