David Bowie: BOPS

Bodhisattva's picture

I note that on 3rd October 1969 The Kentish Times carried a piece revealing, "David Bowie, Bromley's own pop singer, admits he smoked pot one time..."

Now then. Leaving aside the drug outrage, "Bromley's own pop singer"? BOPS? Yes!

Move over HJH...

Mums

The Dame's mum used to come into Our Price in Bromley when I worked there. She was quite rightly, very proud of her wee Thin White Duke. Apparently Sir Billiam of Idol's mum also used to appear, though it must have been on my days off.

The Kentish Times...

- and I write as a long-ago former journalist of said paper - have long since given up on the briefly drug-taking Dame, and are now obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED, with Mick Jagger because of his Dartford connections. And in their Hello-style coverage any substance which might be used for personal consumption would be smoothly glossed over. Keith who? If Private Eye ever started a Jaggerwatch column no-one else would get a look-in...
