Oh yes
Recently purchased the Born to Run 30th anniversary set. Really enjoyed the doc.
I have always
Thought that there is a great album here hidden under that muddy production..hope it's a crytal claer mix,,some amazing songs on this alum..his best?? discuss!
Here we go again
Record companies selling us what we've already bought, sometimes several times over. Usually involving tracks which weren't good enough for the original album.
Count me out.
I'm In
they made a great job of Born to Run
I´m in!
Here´s wishing for a doc just as revealing as the Born To Run doc was. "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out - to this day I don´t know what that means".
Will there not be a concert from the following tour this time as there was in the BTR box set? I would rather have that than extra tracks, even if I´m sure there are more than the Tracks box gave us.
Also can´t wait for a The River installment. Rumour has it they recorded 100 songs during the sessions. Blimey!
Live Set
I think it's a given that a concert DVD and/or CD will be included. And it will soon be rated as the best live album ever !
Apologies for posting this again, but it is a taste of what may be upcoming ...
If dreams came true, ahh wouldn't that be nice!
I love that line.
Having seen that clip, I'm now looking forward to the DOTEOT box set. I have the BTR set with the Hammersmith 75 show DVD, which was well worth the 30 year wait. Looks like this will be too.
Yes
pleeeassse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darkness on The Edge of Town: Box Set
With the much-anticipated release of a commemorative box set for Darkness on the Edge of Town slated for this Christmas, Bruce Springsteen's classic record is getting renewed attention in the music world. Details on the project are scarce; however, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Steven Van Zandt mentioned that about 10 unreleased songs will be included in the box set. Fans are surely hungry for any and all material they can get from the 1978 recording sessions and subsequent tour.
For our own preview of what's to come, we contacted Dick Wingate, who was intimately involved in the launch and marketing of the album and tour. He offers an insider's view of what the Darkness era meant to Bruce and the band, while painting an often-humorous behind-the-scenes account of some of the tour's highlights...check out the book The Light in Darkness, which one fan said, "… would also make a great companion piece to the much anticipated commemorative Darkness box set…"
I understand
that there will be a live DVD although not sure if its a compilation or one show. there are a cuople of classic full lengh good quality bootleg movies out there that confirm he was the greatest live performer in the world at the time - by a very long way.
Comments above -yeah, the mix has always been muddy and it would be great to hear it brightened up.
Its my favourite Bruce album.
regarding the point about being ripped off. i know what you mean but bruce stuff usually has a strong element of quality control (see the Born to run box set that i got for 20 quid on amazon and was ridiculously good value).
Anyway, Im a fan so Im paying!
If I was tempted
I would probably wait a while. Fopp were doing the Born To Run box for something like a tenner hardly any time after it was released.
Yes of course
its a must have.
Will be interesting what gets released live DVD\CD wise. Audio 1978 is a wealth of riches with al;l those FM broadcasts. And Capital Centre from August 1978 is the best of the video boots. Would be ace if they had something previously unseen\ unheard thou.
Bonus tracks eh? I wonder if a studo\live version of 'The Promise' will pass the Boss's quality test this time. His solo piano rendition on 18 tracks is one of my favourite things in the world
This should be worth the
This should be worth the wait - the Live At Winterland bootleg is immense, so any live CD/DVD, if there is one, from this period would be incredible.
I know there is an element of selling us what we've already bought, but you're not forced to buy it, and at least the album is getting the treatment/remastering it deserves.
I just wish they could speed things up though - as well as 'Darkness ....' so much of the Boss' back catalogue is in need of a good old spring clean!
This is why we need it!
