Daniel Henry Edward Thompson - Goddam Legend
Danny Thompson, age 70. I heard this excellent interview on Radio Scotland this week and I realised that of all the great musicians whose gigs I have been to since early 70's this man is most likely the one I have seen on stage the most - but I've never been to a 'Danny Thompson' gig. He has played with a fabulous array of great musicians and he is still playing as well as ever. He will be playing under his own name (Danny Thompson & Friends) at Celtic Connections on 30 January. The friends include Martyn Simpson, damn fine guitarist. He will include a tribute to his old mate John Martyn. His references to JM in the interview had me reaching for the man-size. The interview starts about a minute in once the previous show has ended.

Thanks for that....
Danny is one of my favourite bassists, and his 'Whatever Next' is one of my favourite albums. Thanks again!
