Dancin' Fool
Posted by Nigel Legg on 1 May 2010 - 11:17am.
Just had one of those moments that make it worthwile being a parent. Four minutes and 13 seconds of joy dancing round the kitcen with my four year old daughter. The reason - I Wish by Stevie Wonder, she just loves it. Fellow Worders what makes you dance around your kitchen with or without your offspring

I had to turn off Led Zeppelin
doing Dazed and Confused on Sky Arts this morning as Archie (six months) wouldn't concentrate on his breakfast bottle.
Choon!
Nice post, Nigel. My 3 & 8 yr olds have very broad tastes and have been known to large it to some early '90's techno, especially Orbital. Struggle with The Fall a bit though!
My 3 year old son's...
... current faves are "Go Away" - Elvis Costello and "Heavy Metal Drummer" - Wilco.
Meeting Mr Miandad
by The Duckworth Lewis Method is my young daughter's current dance-and-singalong favourite.
Mr Dad
We spent most of our summer holiday in Scotland singing this song in the car with the kids. It became known, as the 3 yr old called it, 'Meeting Me and Mr Dad'.
Our 11-week old boy
reacts instantly to Ska. He loves to have a dance to this:
But then who doesn't?
Now THAT is feelgood!
I'll have to pull out my copy of Harder They Come, it's been a while.
I'm pretty sure this is in the film too, let us know if junior reacts to it.
When she was a baby
I used to rock my daughter off to sleep jigging around to "Boogie on Reggae Woman".
Last summer she loved Prefab Sprout.
Now, she watches Hannah Montana. Not sure we're going in the right direction.
I can get my 4-y-o daughter
to dance to pretty much anything, but the Ting Tings That's Not My Name is a particular favourite :)
Aaah yes, that one goes down
Aaah yes, that one goes down well chez eddie too. I think Katie Ting Ting was briefly a bit of a role model for my daughter.
The Fratellis. Chelsea Dagger.
He goes mental. Always has done. Lots of jumping up and down and giggling.
I got a pasting
for reviewing the Fratellis favourably in The Word, but I stand by my opinion that they are just cracking straightforward rock, and don't deserve to be tarred with the Landfill brush.
Absolutely right, Joe.
The first album is great. Anyone who dismisses it as shout-along tripe has tin ears. It's properly constructed and well thought-out intelligent rock played by people who know their instruments.
This was the second album...
...but the same applies. It is the sound of An Actual Rock Band, not the gruesome committee-designed cynicism of haircut-first Landfill Indie.
