That's interesting. Since we're posting cover versions, check out this from Glen Campbell's new album, it's a Green Day cover and I like it muchly.

Hmmmm

Re-invention of formerly uncool artist, now thought cool (reappraisal of former work esp. Wichita Lineman). Return to form etc., covering modern 'classic' and 'credible' rock songs see also Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, er Rolf Harris? Not that it matters really. I mean if it's a good album it's a good album. Who's next? Dolly Parton? It's a good thing in a way - more open-mindedness than in the past? Is rock no longer a cool thing necessarily of itself as was? Or am I just rambling incoherently? Please don't answer that.

There's a lot of questions there Sven

Best just sit back and enjoy the music. Wichita Lineman is one of the finest songs of all time, I don't think any amount of reappraising is going to do it justice. And I'm not sure that Dolly needs to do a covers album (although I'm sure she's done several in her career), her own stuff is plenty good enough for me. However one person who maybe could do with a bit of 'cooling up' (a phrase I just invented) is Kenny Rogers, that man is sorely underappreciated.

Thanks for that. You are quite right. Just pondering current trends really, not that I think any of this what is cool carry on should really matter but interesting to ponder about, as opposed to administering dry paperwork as I should be. Agree about Wichita Lineman. That post of mine does read a bit crazed, must cut down on the caffeine methinks.
