Craig Cash and Phil Mealy

Just finished watching "Sunshine" Cash/Mealy's heartbreaking/heartwarming tale of gambling addiction and family love. With The Royle Family and Early Doors to his credit, Craig Cash has emerged as a writer with a wonderful eye for detail who is surely at the top of his game. Not only that, but most of his stuff stands up to multiple viewings where more and more detail delights and laughs are revealed.

Yep
Agree completely. Although I think Sunshine was slightly overdone in places, I enjoyed it.
I absolutely adore Early Doors and think it is this decade's overlooked TV great. (I know it is not overlooked amongst the Word Massive, but I find generally loads of people have never heard of it or watched it.) As well as the ones you mention, Mrs Merton was a great show with some great moments too.
I've heard the criticism that Cash writes about similar things, but I've never understood that. So do most people, don't they? Has anyone ever berated Dickens for writing about poverty, etc? I think he is edging towards national treasure-dom, myself.
