Always time for this anecdote, off a football message board
It's Sunday morning in the park and the various dads are watching their children playing football. One dad hasn't been going very long and soon gets into conversation with the others:
NEW DAD: Yeah, so Georgie's not been playing very long but he's enjoying it so much that we bought him his own kit.
OTHER DAD: Really? What did he play in before?
NEW DAD: Oh, just his Batman outfit.
The thought of the caped crusader flying down the wing never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Wouldn't it be great
if adults kept their childhood imaginations and just said every now and then 'Oh I think I'll wear my Superman/Elvis/Ballet Dancer/Spy (select as appropriate) outfit today'.
The image of a child going about his daily routine in costume is just so endearing isn't it - like the Darth Vader character in the car advert.
Er..
"Wouldn't it be great if adults kept their childhood imaginations and just said every now and then 'Oh I think I'll wear my Superman/Elvis/Ballet Dancer/Spy (select as appropriate) outfit today'."
You mean you don't?
Bud Neill is closely linked to one board member..
Do you know which one?
EHM uses a Bud Neill character...
...as his avatar and on his t-shirt when he's being a rock star. Rank Bajin!
Is it he you mean?
A prize to Mr Cook.
saw the trailer for Cowboys And Aliens in the cinema
When it opened with a shot of Daniel Craig waking up in the middle of a desert, I thought it was the new Bond movie. It soon became obvious this wasn't the case, and when the voiceover ended with " coming soon.. Cowboys and ALIENS!", the whole cinema cackled in derision and disbelief
Saw it this afternoon
Take every cliche you could possibly come up with in a cowboy movie... then add aliens!
Actually I thought the first half was great fun but then it turned into a cliched sci fi / monster movie with cowboys and rather lost it's way in all the special effects.
Shame.
Worth spending a few quid when the dvd is on sale in the supermarket sometime after Christmas.
Builders taking on Aliens?
Should have called it Auf Wiedersehen, ET.
