Cornbury - Paul Simon

Apparently the Saturday headliner at Cornbury is Paul Simon! Maybe you all know this but I just heard. Pretty cool! Though I guess he must clash to some extent with Nick Lowe who is headlining on the other stage (boo).

yeah and Neil young is
yeah and Neil young is playing Glasto!
I thought we'd agreed...
not to call it that.
Paul Simon's voice is shot...
someone call in the fella with the afro for backup.
I saw Paul Simon
last year and his voice certainly wasn't shot. His band were also one of the best I have heard in a long while. The fella with Afro might be able to sing but he can't do much else!!
pfft
didn't he write the songs?
*runs*
OK...
I'm going on a concert I heard on Radio 2 and he couldn't hit any high notes really, and in fact sang flat on a lot of the songs. I am a huge fan of Simon's work, so I don't write this to have a pop at him.
You can find the up to date billing...
...here.
Beverley Knight?
...looks a bit out of place doesn't it?
Why ?
I'd check out her latest album. I really liked it. And it fits the bill I assure you.
Saw Eric Bibb
at SXSW and he was pretty bloody good. plus he had the legendary Danny Thompson on standup bass.
He definitely
CANNOT hit the notes any more. I'm basing this on seeing him at Hammersmith about 4 years ago. He changes the melodies to make up for it, particularly on Kodachrome.
But it didn't matter. It was still a great gig, and he did have the best backing band I've ever seen.
Art for Art's sake
Somin Nicol out of that Fairport Convention has a great story about Art making him change his guitar strap because it was "too noisy" onstage.
Now all we need
Is for them to sort out the Bangles / Half Man Half Biscuit clash, and I'll be sorted. No, really.
