Cornbury line-up disappoints again
Posted by Uncle Wheaty on 12 March 2010 - 7:26pm.
David Gray and Jackson Browne as headliners.
Squeeze and The Feeling as second on the bill - the only two bands on the whole weekend I would want to see and I'm not paying £95 for the privelige. It is a shame as I have been for the last four years.
Full line-up is here for anyone interested - www.cornburyfestival.com

Inclinded to agree
Although Dr John, Buddy Guy and Candi Staton are good choices, but Imelda May again!! I know the organiser is her manager but give us a break!
I'm going to Glastonbury this year and was wondering how I could afford both, that's saved me the bother.
They can't make their minds up
Last year's dreadful bill went for a younger crowd and resulted in them selling only 50% as many tickets as the year before. So this year they've gone for acts which would be more at home on a Saga cruise.
I've been to Cornbury twice before but not this year.
I was pleasantly surprised
having seen the headline on this thread, to see the bill. It's actually not that bad, and certainly better than last year. The thing is, Cornbury is never going to be edgy and won't attract the really top names because there's so much competition. In that sense, getting Paul Simon two years ago was a great result for the organisers. You can keep Imelda May, but give me Dr. John, Candi, Jackson, Buddy, Squeeze, The Feeling and David Gray any day over the line-up at Latitude.
Having said all that, I will be out of the country so won't be able to go.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
There are ways to get your message across...
And then there is this from the Cornbury website.
PICNICS/ALCOHOL IN THE ARENA
Cornbury has always had a policy which states no picnics/alcohol etc in the main arena - but we’ve been pretty relaxed about it in the past and each year we see people sailing through the gates with their cooler boxes and picnics to feed the five thousand! Sorry folks, but this year we are really clamping down - absolutely NO picnics or alcohol to be brought into the arena. In fact, only 500ml plastic bottles containing water or soft drinks will be allowed in.
Our stewards and security have been instructed to stop anything resembling a cooler box, picnic basket, even bag of food/drink into the arena - PLEASE do not attempt to get into the arena with these things. You will be asked to dispose of your picnics at the gate, or return them to your car - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
There will be a fantastic range of food and drinks on offer in the arena so you won’t go hungry or thirsty! We’re not totally insensitive - baby food will be allowed into the arena, just please make sure it is in plastic containers
I didn't know
you could bring your own food two years ago otherwise I would have bought a hamper. To be fair they are only doing what every single other festival do. Except most wouldn't even let you in with the 500ml bottle.
"we're not totally insensitive" = we're not breadhead c**ts, dude.
I queued for 45 minutes in a howling gale and drving rain for lukewarm pie and chips which set me back nearly 20 quid. Never again.
Re: 2 years ago
No, really? You paid £20 for pie and chips - and two years ago at that? The phenomenon known as economic deflation must be running rampant through the British economy because pie and chips cost £8 at Cornbury two days ago.
I am away to ring the Bank of England to report this, pronto!
I notice they still talk about the Word stage...
Two festivals this year chaps?
I'm off to a festival next week..
The Feeling's Alp bash.

OK. I'm going skiing. And The Feeling's thing is going on whilst I'm there.
I'm sure it will be terribly jolly and middle-class.
