Thank you Carl
One of my nominations for the perfect album..
I can't wait
Me too
Yes, Jimmy, an LP I love and I've never got bored with. Was only listening to it at the weekend.
Seconded
Woo! Can't wait. I saw him touring 'the last dog and pony show' and he didn't include anything from Sugar.
Great album
Reminds me of 6th year at school, used to play this record to death.
Cheers for the heads-up, Mr Reader, sir
I'd love to see the show, but I can't imagine that Mould will be playing Stockholm. He'd be more likely to play Ouagadougou or Ulan Bator. Damn.
finland any good for you?
they're playing tavastia in helsinki on monday august 6th
Now that WILL be one to see.
And it's on a Friday.
I'll bring my earplugs, though.
An amazing album...
and the highlight is Hoover Dam with its glorious synthesizer solo.
Saw them back in the day
and live they were a bit rubbish.
Now if Bob could get Husker Du back together.
whoops t'internet went all funny like.
He should still get Husker Du back.

Did anyone see them back in the day?
Yup
and Nova Mob and Husker Du. Take your earplugs.
On the FUEL tour.
They were OK. Portsmouth Pyramids had volume limiters on the PA so it wasn't too ear-bleeding. I was a bit upset that he didn't play If I Can't Change Your Mind on an acoustic.
Never saw Hüsker Dü.
The late great Kevin Greening was a huge fan of Bob Mould.
I saw Sugar at the Brighton
I saw Sugar at the Brighton Pavillion Theatre (capacity of a few hundred I would think) on what must have been the Copper Blue tour. They were very loud and it was a pretty crappy PA so the sound was quite muddy. Mould was in ferocious form, he rushed on stage, plugged in his guitar and was at the mic thrashing away in an instant it seemed. I can't remember if he said a word that night but the pace was like a Ramones show, one song after another. Mould's melodic side got lost in the din and I remember being a bit bludgeoned by it all.
His autobiography is great BTW, doesn't paint himself in the best light so it feels as though he's being very honest about it all. Made me want to buy all the solo stuff that I'd missed out on too.
As the first of many
As the first of many brilliant Creation Records albums I bought during the 90s, I remember Copper Blue fondly. Should be a great gig - how about the whole of the equally-good mini-album 'Beaster' as an encore?! However, featuring on one of those compilations of old music clips on BBC4 recently, focusing on grunge, Sugar did sound a bit rubbish live.
I saw Sugar twice
and thought they were great, not rubbish at all.
Loud, tight and on the money.
I also saw Husker Du, and they were really fun
I saw them twice...
...and like the lovely balancing person I am, one time was ace and the other time wasn't that good.
Hoover Dam
Sugar were *mint* live.
BTW, anyone else noticed the Tubeway Army synth riff in Hoover Dam (it starts at about 1.36:
Hover Dam
Sorry, Tubeway Army should read Sugababes.
It's good..
..but its evil little brother, Beaster, is better.
a great album
and one I'd totally forgotten about. Thanks for the reminder.
