Coming your way soon

cd.jpgThe new "Now Hear This" CD, which is attached to the upcoming issue, is, though we say it ourselves, brilliant. It features the B-52 with "Hot Corner" from their new album, Nick Lowe's "So It Goes", Supergrass and "Ghost of A Friend", Billy Bragg and "O Freedom", Orchestra Baobab, Adam Green, the Hot 8 Brass Band, kd lang and lots more including this theme song from the first series of "The Wire".

The first half...

...dozen are absolute stand-outs for me. But the Billy Bragg track? Now, I like a bit of Billy now and again, but O Freedom? Like being pelted with eco-briquettes made from reconstituted copies of the Guardian and shouted at all at the same time, and the whole thing gave me a headache. Thank God for the Hot 8 Brass Band who came along at the last minute and took it away.

Oddly enough...

Billy Bragg's was the highlight for me; guess I'm just turning a bit reactionary in my old age...

Jesus of Cool

Yeah yeah yeah. It's brilliant. One of you're best ever. But why has my Windows Media Player recognised it as Nick Lowe's Jesus of Cool? That's one of my top five albums evah! How did it know?

It's the best one yet

Brent Cash is one of the highlights for me.

I haven't pressed fast foward/skip on any track, have enjoyed all of them and there's been no offstage shouts of "what's that racket?" - which is always a good sign.
