Colonel Pleasure's Something For The Weekend

Cousin Emmy with You Are My Sunshine played on rubber glove. You can try this at home afterwards.

Branson may have divested himself of his Megastores, but he's still got lots of toys to play with, like Necker Island.

I prefer Bollocks Island, where this week we discover that Brian Jones liked to name his male issue 'Julian' after Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley. It seemed entirely apposite to feature his Mercy Mercy Mercy, particularly since Joe Zawinul died a few weeks ago, but no YouTube clip exists other than by tribute bands with show drummers who completely miss the point - so here's two minutes of fame for one Mr Goldfingers' home video. He does it right.

Someone sent me this Marmite viral in the week. What's with the online video, then?

Leave it Ethel, she's not worth it.

Forgotten Pop: Phil Seymour & Precious To Me.

Cat attack.

Cat Stevens.

Best Forgotten Pop?: 10cc & Dreadlock Holiday.

Robbie Williams. Goodbye To The Normals. Fantastic.

More cowbell. The Chambers Brothers & The Time Has Come Today. His soul has been psychedelicized. Don't make 'em like this anymore.

If you like Rilo Kiley, you'll perhaps enjoy this.

Feelgoods on the Geordie Scene in '75. Wilco had plenty of stage.

Happy Motoring.

Yes classic Roundabout performed in hoofer fashion.

Madonna's Ray Of Light.

(Pop Quiz: How could you possibly connect Madonna & Yes?)

Apparently, this prat is a big YouTube hit.

Les Them. (What was the billing when The The played France, then?)

Here's the sight and sound of young Islington from a 70's Australian Punk documentary. Anyone know anyone? How much is that house worth today & where was it?

The Monkees covered Wreckless Eric?

Sam Baker. Let this load to 3.00, press play, close your eyes and listen to Boxes. Awesome song. Another Bob Harris find.

We'll conclude with the most staggering Scopitone found so far. Sonny King's " I Cried For You". What were they on?

The Sonny King clip...

The Sonny King clip is magnif.

It ends with, I'm saying, the Best. Wink. Ever.

Virtual beers for those Yes experts. Mark had the answer intended and Dick came from left field to prove there's more than one route to a destination. It came out of a pub conversation about unexpected royalty paydays and that's a particularly interesting one.

Sepheryn even got taken a stage further.

As for last week's mystery riff, Keith Axford may have found the closest answer yet in this?

Thanks for the Phil Seymour clip -never heard of him and it?s very nice.
Fans of sugar-coated powerpop who also happen to be twin-necked guitar enthusiasts will find much to their advantage both here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF7I6G8zAiE

There?s a great version of Whole Wide World on the new Proclaimers album. Song is perfect for the Celtic Soul Brothers who belt it out with and characteristic gusto.

Madonna's Ray of Light was a reworking of the song Sepheryn by Curtiss Maldoon. Steve Howe played guitar with them before splitting to hook up with Yes.

Re: connecting Madon...

Re: connecting Madonna and Yes. Madonna made Justify My Love with Lenny Kravitz - who recorded a charity version of Give Peace A Chance with Sean and Yoko Ono - who was a member of the Plastic Ono Band - who also had Alan White as drummer - who replaced Bill Bruford in Yes. Easy Peasy!

What ho, Colonel!

Whole Wide World rem...

Whole Wide World remains one of the greatest pop songs ever written. If Eric gets more kash for this then it's worthwhile - why change the lyrics though - Singing drummers eh?
