Classics You Just Can't Buy As Downloads

Andrew F's picture

So, I'm having a browse through Amazon's staggeringly huge catalogue, and find myself staggered by the discovery that you can't buy this as a download...

You can buy the song - particularly as a rather poorly done re-recording by Carl Wayne - but not in the famous version by The Move. Indeed, a number of their most famous tracks are missing.

We all know about the issues with The Beatles and downloads - now partially ironed out as they're available from iTunes - and things are available at some places and not others. But what other genuine classics can you just not buy in digital form?

I had a similar problem

Trying to get "The Poacher" by Ronnie Lane until a kind member of the Massive helped out.

My dad

used to have Anymore For Anymore on vinyl and I lost it when I borrowed it a few years ago.

No download to assuage my guilt

Aztec Camera

Mattress of Wire/Just Like Gold - Roddy won't allow it except on vinyl. I would advise obtaining these superb songs by any means necessary.

I don't understand

Why not just buy The Move's Shazam CD. 14 tracks for a fiver. Including Blackberry Way.

That way at least you have something to show for your money.

Excellent box

Live at the Marquee in particular is awesome, and they all sang!

The thing is...

... to be honest, I only really want Blackberry Way. Not that fussed about the rest of their stuff. Indeed, I even hated that one until recently. May have a look at a compilation CD, though. But it just seems remarkable it isn't around in digital form somewhere...

I'll warrant

you'll find it on one of the countless, ahem, unofficial download sites (along with mountains of other interesting stuff).
