After being available on download and then vinyl for world record shop day, Flaming Lips' version of Dark Side Of The Moon has finally quietly crept out onto a little silver disc, almost totally unheralded.
I personally think it's a wonderful reading of the album, given a total Lips approach but where does everybody else stand on it and who would we like to see do what next?
(My call is for the Lips to do a new cover album each year, let's start with SF Sorrow or A Night at the Opera)

Beck

Don't know about the Lips' "Dark Side of the Moon", but Beck in his record club series has covered a fair few LPs. The best of these was his take on "The Velvet Underground & Nico" which added a ramshackle Americana bar band sound to the tales of crossdressers, pushers and druggies. i.e. Very good.

Easy Star All Stars

And very much to my taste.

Their take on OK Computer ("Radiodread") is at least the equal of the original.

I'll second that ...

Their (Easy Star) take on Dark Side is fantastic - don't dismiss it as a novelty record, it's superbly done. The Flaming Lips version isn't half bad either.
